As 2025 comes to a close, we figured it was the perfect time to share a little year-in-review — equal parts heartfelt, chaotic, and unforgettable.
The year started off on a really tough note with the LA fires. “Devastating” doesn’t even begin to cover it. So many of our friends were personally affected, and we spent weeks helping displaced families find rentals during a time when the housing market already had nothing to give. It was stressful, emotional, and one of those moments where we did everything we could… and still wished we could have done more.
But the year also brought some long-awaited joy. In March, we finally—finally—took our Hawaiian family trip over spring break. This trip was originally planned for April 2020 (you know what happened there), and then we added Nora to the family, so it’s taken a minute to make it happen. Totally worth the wait.
The girls were finally at a great traveling age, which felt like a small miracle. We’ve had some truly… character-building flights with “spirited littles,” so being past that chapter is bittersweet for us, and a gift to every airline employee. We snorkeled all over the island, ate approximately one million servings of poke and shave ice, and soaked in every drop of magic. Wailea might be our favorite — but let’s be honest, there isn’t a bad spot to be found.
Coco had a big performance year! She loves to sing and be on stage — definitely gets that star quality from her dad. The highlight was the two of them performing “Shallow” together at her school. Mom cried, Dad beamed, and thankfully someone got it on camera so we can relive it forever (or until Coco decides it’s mortifying).
Nora graduated preschool, which came with all the emotions. We adored her preschool community and miss them dearly, but she’s thriving in TK and embracing the big-kid life.
Renee hit the big 4-0 in July and celebrated with an epic 80s-themed party. Jeremiah performed for her (because she’s his biggest fan), and checking off “private concert by husband” from the wish list felt pretty iconic.
Summer took us to the East Coast for our annual family trip, which was… eventful in all the best ways. The kids caught more frogs than we could count, we hiked, we fished, and we tried a Dude Ranch — which instantly made the “must repeat next year” list. Nora fell in love with a horse named Baby, and we still hear about Baby regularly.
Jeremiah lived his best life: won actual money at bingo, played in a pickleball tournament, water-skied, and rode horses like he’s been doing it forever. Coco discovered her calling as a fisherman — truly her grandfather’s granddaughter — and reeled in fish like it was her job. We also got amazing quality time with Jeremiah’s family, who live too far away, but fill our cups every time we visit… even when we’re juggling escrow calls while chasing frogs.
We also welcomed our sweet baby nephew at the end of 2024, Tre, who has been such a bright light this year. We’re completely smitten.
Fall brought a few milestones: Nora had her tonsils removed (she was a champ — and thank goodness we never have to do that again), and Coco got braces at age eight. We’re still wrapping our heads around orthodontia starting earlier than middle school, but apparently that’s the thing now.
Renee squeezed in a New York trip in October while cheering on her friend Caitlin performing in Midtown — a rare and much-needed adults-only getaway. And in November, Jeremiah’s sisters, Kristen and Lisa, came out for a proper LA trip. We took them all around LA and Orange County, and may have casually reminded them why the West Coast is the best coast… kidding! Kind of.
This year brought joy, growth, adventure, a few hard moments, and so many memories we’ll carry with us. It was one for the books.
Cheers to saying goodbye to 2025 and stepping into 2026 — can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
